Terms of Use
Last updated: June 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of the SYNC’D iOS app and this website. By using the app, you agree to them.
What SYNC’D is — and isn’t
SYNC’D is an educational tool. It combines public product databases, published scientific sources, and AI analysis to explain what’s in the products you scan. It is informational only.
SYNC’D is not medical advice. Scores, ingredient notes, and wellness context are general education, not diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for professional advice. If you’re pregnant, nursing, managing a condition, or making decisions about your health, talk to a qualified professional.
Never rely on SYNC’D for allergen safety. Product formulations change, databases lag, and AI can make mistakes. If you have an allergy or intolerance, always read the physical label on the product in your hand.
Accuracy
Product data comes from third-party sources and from AI analysis. It may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and a product’s score is a relative guide within its category — not a guarantee that a product is safe or unsafe. We work to keep results honest, including flagging when something couldn’t be verified, but you use the information at your own judgment.
Community
You can share product recommendations with other users. When you do:
- Keep it honest and about the product. No health claims, no harassment, no spam, no impersonation, and nothing unlawful.
- You own what you post, and you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display it in the app and operate the service.
- We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules. You can report any post and block any user from inside the app.
Your account
Signing in is optional. You’re responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account.
Acceptable use
Don’t abuse the service: no scraping, no reverse-engineering our backend, no interfering with other users, no using the app to build a competing dataset, and no automated bulk requests.
Data sources and attribution
Product data is drawn in part from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Recall information comes from openFDA; openFDA does not endorse this app, and its data is provided as-is. Brand names and product images belong to their respective owners and appear for identification only.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on information in the app. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (the app is currently free).
Changes and termination
We may update the app, these terms, or discontinue features. If these terms change materially, we’ll update this page and the date above. We may suspend access that violates these terms.
